ANDY REID REVEALS WHY HE SUCKS AT NFC TITLE GAME
Hawaii--- You would think that with a top 10 defense, Brian Westbrook at running back, and Donovan McNabb at QB, the Eagles would be a threat to win the SB every year.
And they have been close many times. The last 10 seasons, they have played in 5 NFC Title games, but have a lowly 1-4 record in those games.
Eagles fans across the globe have wondered "why?"
Well, Reid was coaching the NFC Prow Bowlers again this year and I caught up with him and asked him.
"It has nothing to do with talent on the field," he said. "Or with the coaching. If we had bad coaches, we wouldn't get that far. I really like coming here to Hawaii. Ever since I found out that the losers in the conference title games coach the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, I jumped for joy. Hawaii is my favorite vacation spot and to get a free trip here is just great. We tank them so I can come here"
"We were gonna come here in the offseason [to vacation as a family]. But due to the struggling economy, we were forced to cancel the trip. Then the Eagles made the title game. I decided to tank this one as well."
When asked why they won in 2004 against the Falcons then, Reid credited the fact that Michael Vick was the quarterback, hence, the easy competition.
He also went as far as to thank Plaxico Burress, the Giants wide receiver who shot himself in the thigh.
"Without him doing that, we don't win that game [Divisional Playoffs] and I don't get an opportunity to coach here again. Thank you Plax."
Eagle players, including McNabb were stunned
"I didn't know that was in the rule book,"(LOL) a bewildered McNabb told the media. "I didn't know that the losing coaches coached the Pro Bowl. That's new to me."
So there you have it Eagle fans. You lose in the title game because your coach loves Hawaii. At least you can feel happy for him now that he gets to go to his favorite vacation spot.
